Become an Adoption Panel Member

Could I be a panel member? Why not?

Adoption Now hold four in-person panels based in Bolton, Rochdale and Blackburn to consider whether applicant adopters are suitable to adopt, whether children should be matched with prospective adopters and occasionally whether a child should be placed for adoption.

Members of the adoption panel must have personal or professional experience relevant to adoption and a strong commitment to securing the best possible outcomes for children who cannot live with their birth family.

We have strong core values and our panels offer independent scrutiny and quality assurance to the adoption agency and our partner local authorities.

We believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are fundamental to our success and are committed to creating a panel central list that reflects the diverse communities we serve across our region.

We are particularly interested in strengthening the range and diversity of our panels with:

  • People who have been adopted or are care experienced
  • People whose family has been affected by adoption
  • Men with relevant experience or knowledge
  • People from a *global majority background
  • People who can offer a perspective from the LGBTQ+ community
  • People from a wide age range, with a particular need for younger members

* Global majority is used to refer to all ethnic groups except white British and other white groups, including white minorities. This includes people from black, Asian, mixed, and other ethnic groups who are often racialised as ‘ethnic minorities’.

If you are able to spare two days (one to read and one for panel) a month or every other month and are interested in becoming a panel member, please contact me to find out more:
