We focus on achieving the best we can for our children so having adopters from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures is essential to us.
Adoption Now brings together the local authority adoption services for six areas in the North West of England – Blackburn with Darwen, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Tameside, Oldham working in partnership with two voluntary adoption agencies, Caritas Care and Adoption Matters.
As a new Regional Adoption Agency we are building on the good reputation and excellent work already being done to provide high quality adoption services for children and adults.
Our core purpose is to deliver the following:
- High quality, child-centred, and efficient family finding service for children who have a plan for adoption.
- Robust, responsive and sensitive adopter approval service.
- A highly skilled and professional support service for adopters, adopted children, adopted adults and birth parents.
Our most recent Ofsted report, published in June 2018 recommended Adoption Now saying, "Adopters are well prepared. They are given a good understanding of the needs of adopted children.. experienced and skilful practitioners have a good understanding of children's needs, and provide comprehensive advice and support packages for adoptive families. For children placed for adoption, stable and secure placements with their adoptive families ensure positive outcomes."
We are here for everyone involved in adoption. Adoptive parents need guidance and support as they go through the process of adopting a child. But we also recognise the very specific needs of birth families and adopted adults. Adoption Now can provide information, mediation, therapeutic support, counselling and advice whatever your situation.
