Sonny is almost two and is a delightful boy with warm nature.Sonny was born earlier than everyone expected, and when he first arrived, he was very poorly. The doctors weren’t sure if he would make it, but he showed them how strong he is. He’s been growing and learning and has made amazing progress. Sonny has cerebral palsy, but he’s getting better at using his body all the time. With some special equipment, he can sit up in his highchair and even stand when he uses his standing frame. Eating can still be tricky for him because his mouth is learning how to chew properly, but the dietician and the Speech and Language team help him with this. He needs extra help with things like moving, playing, and learning to communicate, but he’s doing his very best every day. No one is worried about his general health right now, but people are still learning what he might need as he gets older. What everyone does know is that he’s a little fighter who keeps surprising them with how far he’s come. After his birth, Sonny was discharged from hospital directly into the care of his current foster carers. He is a happy child and is settled and content in his surroundings. He has a positive attachment with his foster carers, who are dedicated to ensuring he has been given every opportunity to thrive and achieve his best possible health and developmental potential. Sonny’s foster carer says: “Sonny is a delightful little boy with a warm and sociable nature. He is often smiling, especially around familiar people, and loves attention and cuddles. He is also calm and easy going, Sonny appears happy, settled, and content in his surroundings, demonstrating a strong sense of security.” Sonny’s social worker says: “ Sonny is a truly delightful little boy with a wonderfully warm and sociable nature. He has a smile that lights up his whole face and is quick to share it, especially when he is with people he knows and trusts. He responds beautifully to nurturing interactions; he leans in for cuddles, enjoys being held close, and clearly finds comfort in gentle attention and reassurance from his carers. He is a calm, easy going child who takes great interest in the world around him. He often relaxes while listening to soft background sounds or having the television on for short periods. One of his favourite pastimes is observing the other child in his foster home - he seems fascinated by her play and watching her often brings out his biggest smiles and most focused attention.”Sonny would wish for the following in his new family: “If I could share my wishes, I would say that I need a home where I feel safe, understood, and cared for. I learn and grow best when people take time to notice my cues and support me gently. I’m currently in a home that gives me lots of stimulation and chances to develop, and I will need this same level of support in my future family. I would also love a family who understands my needs and can help me live a happy, active, and fulfilling life.” |
