The Adoption Process

The adoption process can take as little as 6 months and before you start you will have chance to speak to our staff about adoption and whether it's the right time for you to proceed.

Held on Microsoft TEAMS they are the perfect place to start YOUR adoption story!

An Initial Enquiry is where we take some basic details from you, exploring what has led you to consider adopting.

Initial Visits may be in person or on Teams and is about sharing information between ourselves and giving the opportunity to ask questions.

The Registration of Interest is your formal application to adopt and we have five working days to accept or review it for any edits.

Stage 1 is where we undertake your references, you undertake lots of learning, and we start to prepare you as prospective adopters.

Stage two is where we complete your prospective adopters’ report. This report is what is shared with panel and social workers for children who are looking for their forever families.

'[Adoption Now are] a really supportive, pro-active agency who helped make our family complete!'

'It is a very emotional and difficult process, but we received lots of support!'

'We had a really positive experience and it's always felt really friendly and natural'

Adopter Stories by Adoption Now

If you are thinking about adoption it can help to hear from real people who were once right where you are now. We created Adopter Stories by Adoption Now to bring you real life stories from real life adopters. You will hear that no two adoption journeys are the same and not every adoption is the same either. We talk about the challenges that people face during the adoption process but we also talk about the highs too!
