Peter - Our children's stories

Peter

Photo of Peter

Peter is not quite one yet but he’s a happy and sociable little boy who loves to be out and about, exploring the world around him.

Lots of people stop and say hello to Peter, which he relishes in. He enjoys having time and space to play, but he also love cuddles and being held by his carers. From a young age he has been able to let his carers know what he does and does not want to do. He rarely get upset, but he does make it clear when he needs something like food or sleep! He enjoys bath time and finds this really relaxing. He sleeps well; once he’s in his cot he’ll look around for a few minutes and then settle to sleep.

Peter has been known to social care since before he was born. His birth parents have their own needs and are not able to care for Peter or his older siblings. Peter was moved in with his foster carers upon his discharge from hospital at five days old and remains with them and where he is happy and settled.

Peter is described by his carers as being “a lovely baby with a gorgeous smile”, who enjoys being around people.

There are no concerns for Peter in respect of his development. Where he had previously been behind his peers in some areas, he has now caught up and is meeting expected milestones. His foster carer supports this view and considers that she is seeing normal development from Peter. He is described as an easy child to care for, and his foster carer notes “Peter loves to engage and brighten the room with his happy disposition and emerging personality”.

Peter is looking for a one or two parent family, where he could be the only child in the family or live alongside other children. He needs a family who can support him in maintaining relationships with his birth family including birth parents, maternal grandmother and siblings.
