Kato - Our children's stories

Kato

Photo of Kato

Kato is six years old and a happy little boy; smart and intelligent and will be able to accomplish most tasks when prompted to do so. He is keen to please and enjoys helping.

Kato is good with numbers and letters, and can type and write independently. He does seek comfort from his carers and has a close bond with them. He is full of personality and increasingly coming out of his shell! Since late 2025 his communication and speech has improved significantly and he thrives from routine and consistency.

Kato is a curious little boy and likes familiar places but can become overwhelmed in new spaces especially if they are crowded. In school he is doing well and benefits from the use of tools such as visual timetable and a communication board. He is a young child who has experienced a lot of instability, and this has impacted on his emotional development. He thrives from the nurturing care and attention he receives from his carers and responds well to the established routine and boundaries.

Kato is a typical little boy who has lots of energy and can be boisterous, but he can also be quiet and shy, especially when meeting new people.

He currently lives with foster carers, alongside his  2 younger siblings who also have a plan of adoption. He is increasingly affectionate towards his younger siblings! He needs a family who could support him in continuing these relationships.

Kato lived with his birth family until he was four years old. During this time he didn’t always receive age-appropriate development opportunities. Since moving to foster care Kato has continued to develop and thrive.

Kato is looking for a loving and nurturing family who can continue to support him to learn, grow. He thrives from patience, consistency and understanding. He would also benefit from a family who is open to maintaining some direct contact with his younger siblings.
