Poppy is a happy and smiley three-year-old who enjoys the outdoors, holidaying in the UK and the beach!Poppy is very affectionate and loves being in the company of adults and children alike. She likes playing with her toys and is very creative in her play. She likes to pretend to talk on a mobile phone and talk to people by babbling away.
When relaxing she enjoys watching cartoons. She also enjoys watching Frozen and will become mesmerised when Elsa sings. She likes to go on holiday to the beach and loves the bath, she is definitely a water baby. She is clever and can say the right words for the right toys, such as “cheese” when playing with her toy camera. She likes to sing and dance and enjoys new experiences and seeing new places. She also loves animals, especially horses!
Poppy has started going to nursery a few times a week and has settled in ok. She is meeting new friends and learning lots of new things! Her nursery says that she is a gentle and caring little girl. She enjoys being around other children and taking part in group play.
Poppy was born early by emergency c-section and required resuscitation at birth. She needed to stay in hospital for two weeks but has been well since she was discharged.
Poppy has struggled with her eating since weaning; she did not show an interest in food and would tend not to swallow food but keep it in her mouth. Despite these early difficulties, she has made notable progress and nursery say she is now able to eat some foods including yoghurt with chopped fruit, small cubes of sandwich, waffle, banana, and broken up crisps. She continues to be offered a range of new foods with varying textures and flavours, and this gradual exposure is supporting her developing confidence around eating.
Poppy’s Social Worker said: “I would say she is a friendly, happy and cheeky little girl who has a big personality. You cannot help but smile when you are in her company. She does like to play alone but she also likes to engage with imaginative play.
She is super happy when she does something you ask and claps to herself and gives you a beautiful smile.”Poppy’s foster carer describes her as; “a delight to look after. She is clever, funny, affectionate and she loves to experience new things” She has been in the same foster home three years and has formed good attachments to the carer and family. She is very good at making her feelings known, she can be wary of new people at first but once she gets to know people will reward them with her time and lovely smile.
Poppy needs a family who can meet all of her needs and can provide her with love and emotional warmth. She needs a family who can provide her with consistent and safe parenting and will support her to overcome the challenges with her eating, taking a patient and child-led approach to helping her with this and ensuring she attends any appointments that would help her.
