Imara (2) & Kofi (11 months) are a close sibling pair, and while they’re similar in age which sometimes leads to the usual sibling squabbles, they are also each other’s greatest source of comfort and joy. Imara is a happy, cheeky little girl who is hoping to find a family who will love her just the way she is. She’s been living with her foster carer for a little while now and is doing really well in all areas. She’s got just a few little delays but is catching up fast. When she first came into care, she had only ever had a bottle with milk, but now she’s a brilliant little eater! She loves food and is not fussy at all. She enjoys trying new things and she especially likes fresh vegetables. She loves to dance, especially when there’s music playing. She can’t help but wiggle her bum and giggle. Kofi is a smiley, curious little boy, although he’s not so little anymore. He is growing strong-er every day and becoming quite the sturdy chap. He’s recently started eating sol¬id food and absolutely loves it. Mealtimes are one of his favourite parts of the day, and he sometimes get a bit upset when the food’s all gone because he enjoys it so much. Kofi can roll over and sit up, though he does like to arch his back a bit. He especially enjoys relaxing on his back or sitting up in his Bumbo seat. He’s getting so strong now that he can even push himself out of the seat with his legs. He’s a very chatty baby and loves to babble away. He makes lots of little sounds to get your attention and keep you smiling. One of his favourite toys is his squeaky book – it’s so much fun to play with. But his absolute favourite place to be is in his Jumperoo. He bounces and giggles so much that sometimes he even falls asleep in it. And if he's not in his Jumperoo, he’ll still trying to bounce while being held because it’s just that much fun. Imara and Kofi’s parents struggled to understand the developmental needs of their children as they grew, often continuing to treat each child as a baby regardless of their age, which led to them being neglected. However, since living with their carer they have made excellent progress and are meeting their developmental milestones. The siblings love playing and laughing together, and they feel safest when they’re with one another. Life has brought them many challenges, but through it all, they’ve always had each other. Imara and Kofi are looking for a loving and nurturing family who can support them to stay together and continue helping them to learn, grow, and thrive. It’s important that their new family is patient, understanding, and committed to supporting their individual needs as they develop. The children are of Black African heritage so need a family who can help them embrace this as they grow. They would also really value a family who is open to maintaining some direct contact with their 5-year-old brother, who has a separate plan of adoption. Keeping a connection with him would mean a lot to them and help preserve an important sibling bond. |
