Julian - Our children's stories

Julian

Julian

Julian (2) is a very energetic little boy who loves to be kept busy. He enjoys climbing or playing in the park.

At home Julian watches Bluey and Peppa Pig whilst also playing with many toys such as cars, bricks and puzzles. He is so lucky to have the space to play! He is described as a curious little chap in environments where he feels safe and secure. He has a huge beaming smile with an infectious laugh! He can be kind and affectionate, enjoy snuggles from his carers whilst also passing some of these squeezes on to others. He has lots of friends at nursery and has a good relationship with the other children he lives with. As he is still young, his carer is helping him with skills such as dressing and undressing and using the toilet.

He is looking forward to being able to do this for himself as he wants to be a big boy!

Julian was brought into care due to concerns of harm and neglect. There were significant concerns around alcohol misuse, home conditions, disguised compliance and domestic abuse which were putting the children at a high level of risk. Julian went to live with his maternal grandmother however she was unable to continue to meet his needs, so he was placed in the current foster placement, where he remains to date. Julian has a half-sibling who lives with
paternal family. Due to the chaotic lifestyle and lack of inconsistent parenting, Julian can use food as a comfort. In the home, this is well managed, and he is in an excellent routine.

Julian’s carer describes him as a handsome little boy who can at times need lots of reassurance.

He loves his food, eats a variety and enjoys a cup of warm milk at bedtime. He can be weary of strangers (which is a positive) however occasionally he will interact with people he knows or doesn’t, this depends on how he is feeling on the day. Julian does thrive on a routine for consistency with clear rules and boundaries to help him feel safe and secure, which is expected of any child his age.

Julian is quite an intelligent little person, his gross motor skills are excellent and he has good fine motor skills (picking up small objects or completing a puzzle). He requires support in understanding and regulating his emotions; he can come across as extremely timid at times.

Julian is looking for a kind and caring family who can consider promoting direct contact with his half sibling as he has lived with them for a period and also has supervised visits currently.
