Starting your adoption journey!

Adoption Now Girl Siblings - could you adopt siblings?

Starting YOUR adoption journey!

Are you currently thinking about wanting to adopt a child or children? At Adoption Now we understand that arriving at the decision to adopt is not one that is taken lightly. You will have likely done as much research as possible, looking all over the internet for information that you can find about adoption and where to start, and naturally, you will still have so many questions that you want answering. You may even be wondering if you are asking the right questions. Adoption has a lot of process names and acronyms; and it can be easy, if you have no prior knowledge, to get lost in the noise of information that is out there on the internet.

You may be asking questions such as ‘where do I start?’, ‘how can I adopt?’, ‘what is an adoption agency?’, ‘who do I talk to about adoption?’. These are all extremely valid questions, and as an agency it would be remiss of us to not, at the very least acknowledge that. A lot of people that are considering adoption may have no prior knowledge or experience of adoption, so knowing that difference between what a Regional Adoption Agency is, what a Voluntary Adoption Agency is and what an adoption charity is can make it a challenge right off the bat to know who and where to contact first.

Now, whilst there is certainly a structure to the process of adoption, personal circumstances certainly play a huge role throughout the process and your own circumstances may well differ from other people.

So, to better understand your personal situation and to have your own questions answered regarding adoption we recommend that you contact us as YOUR local adoption agency. If you live in our local authority areas of Bolton, Bury, Blackburn, Darwen, Oldham, Rochdale or Tameside then that’s brilliant! In fact, if you live anywhere in the Northwest of England, we would love you to consider adopting with our agency.

Adoption Research

The amount of information out there on the internet can be overwhelming especially when you are first starting your research. We ourselves have a lot of freely available, up to date information here on our website www.adoptionnow.org.uk.

To get you started we recommend that you begin with our Frequently Asked Questions page. As a lot of people who are thinking about adopting often have very similar questions, we have answered some of the most popular questions about adoption and the adoption process that we get on this page.

In the Adoption Stories tab, you can read the stories of some of the children that are waiting for their forever families. You will be able to learn about their fantastic personalities and what they love to do! Just to note, the children’s names have been changed in these stories and stock photos have been used to protect the identity of the child or children.

We also have our own adoption podcast series too – Adopter Stories by Adoption Now, which you can find on the podcast tab. We understand that it’s one thing to read our information about adoption, but it is another to hear from people who have been through the adoption process, who live it and have been where you are now. We created our Adopter Stories by Adoption Now podcast series to bring you real life stories from real life adopters. You will hear that no two adoption journeys are the same and not every adoption is the same. We talk about the challenges that people face during the adoption process, but we also talk about the highs too!

Finally, last but not least, we have our free downloadable Information Pack on our contact page. Packed full of information it will answer some of the questions you may have about adoption and encourage you to take the next step towards one of the most enriching experiences in life, the difference it can make to a child or children and for you to become their parent or parents.

We are here for you, and it goes without saying that having the chance to speak to one of our amazing team, who you can have a chat with and who can answer any questions about adoption that you may have, is one of the best ways in which you can learn more about adoption and the adoption process. Our Information Line is open 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday on 01204 336096 and we would love to hear from you!
