Harper is one year old and a very happy, content little girl who enjoys being nurtured and cuddled.
Harper loves exploring the world around her. She enjoys trips to the local park and shops; she really enjoys looking at the toys and clothes. She loves ‘In the night garden’, ‘Bing’ and ‘Justin’s House’. Harper also enjoys watching ‘The Chase’!
Harper can easily entertain herself but also enjoys the company of others and loves playing with other children. She enjoys reading books such as Peter Rabbit and anything with a sensory side to it. She loves playing with her toys. Her favourites are Iggle Piggle, her dollies and she loves building with bricks and knocking things down!
Harper is described by her carers as bubbly, outgoing and friendly.
She is a little girl that loves attention, but she can by shy with strangers and new people. She is rarely grumpy unless she is tired, hungry or unwell.
Harper was exposed to drug and possibly alcohol misuse during pregnancy, and it is also suspected that she has been exposed to domestic violence between her parents all of which can cause harm to a child pre-birth. Unfortunately, she has experienced lots of instability in her short life due to having several different carers since her birth.
Harper is making progress in her foster family and appears to have formed a close bond with her current carers and their wider family. However, there are some developmental and health needs that have been identified. A recent check-up states she has developed some delays around muscle tone; for example, she is struggling with swallowing chunky foods and also weight bearing in the initial stages of travelling by crawling. She is having further investigations to rule out any genetic causation for the delay, such as Foetal Alcohol Syndrome and/or Cerebral Palsy.
Harper’s carers enjoy caring for her and say she is a joy to be around.
We are looking for a family who can understand and accept Harper’s uncertain health needs, which are being investigated. She currently lives in a busy household, where extended foster care family visit the house with a variety of ages, so a family with existing children would be an option for Harper.
