Infant girl with feeding tube

Heidi is a curious and gentle little one year old
with big blue eyes and rosy cheeks. She enjoys
playing with her favourite rattle, bouncing in her
Jump-a-Roo, and being tickled.

Heidi is described as a lovely affectionate little girl who loves a cuddle and a kiss. She enjoys watching what is going on and likes bright colours and interesting movements. She loves sensory toys and bubbles and being with other children and the dog she lives with. Heidi will laugh and wave her legs around to show when she is happy.

Heidi was born with Di-George Syndrome and this has impacted on her physical health and development, including her language and mobility. She is supported by several health professionals, for example, cardiology, physiotherapy, paediatrics, dietician and the community nurses, which means she has quite a few appointments to keep up with.

Heidi has hearing aids due to bi-lateral hearing loss, inhalers to help with her breathing, and she also has an NG tube to help her with feeding.

Heidi takes all these challenges in her stride and is calm and resilient.

She takes in the world around her enjoying watching people as they go about their day and other children playing. She has a real sweet tooth and loves yoghurt and ice cream.

Heidi was unable to live with her birth parents as they both have learning needs and they couldn’t meet her needs or safely care for her.

Heidi needs a kind and loving forever family, who will be patient and allow her to develop at her own pace. She needs someone who is willing to accept a level of uncertainty around her health and development and can also be flexible and organised to make sure she attends important check-ups and appointments. She needs someone who can see her strengths and help her to live life to the fullest.
