With the Christmas holidays fast approaching we just wanted to take the time to let you know our office hours over the festive period!
- In the run up to Christmas we are counting down the days with our 12 Reasons to Adopt and releasing Festive Episodes of our podcast Adopter Stories by Adoption Now!
- This November we are celebrating the RAA turning 5 years old!
- A national week of action is recognising the significance of identity for children who are adopted and asks ‘could you be a part of their life story?’ Local adoption agency Adoption Now, is supporting National Adoption Week which aims to raise awareness of the need to be connected to our pasts, to improve our sense of identity and emotional wellbeing, something that is crucial for those who have been adopted as they mature into adulthood.
- Being a parent to a child is one of the most amazing and rewarding experiences in life and, having enjoyed parenthood once, many people look to do it all over again and grow their family by adopting; be that by adopting whilst already having a birth child or children, or by adopting for a second time.
- Family is family, and here at Adoption Now we welcome your enquiry no matter what your sexuality / family situation. A common myth that still exists is that you cannot adopt if you are LGBT+ and single or in a relationship. But that is just not true. Same sex families have had the right to adopt since December 2005, when The Adoption and Children Act 2002 came into law. This legislation gave unmarried couples and same sex couples the right to adopt.
- A fresh plea for people in the North West to consider adopting children who wait the longest has been issued as part of a new national campaign.
- Throughout June we are highlighting our need to find adopters who can consider adopting sibling or family groups. At the end of May 2022, 49% of our children needing forever families are in sibling groups of two or higher. Brothers and sisters have such a unique, and powerful bond, so when it comes to our family groups, we always try our best to keep them together.
- Our latest Virtual Information Events for June are now live! Each event is totally free to attend and is a great opportunity to learn more about adoption, the process, our children and what we need from you as adopters from the comfort of your own home
- In our latest blog we are talking about being single and adopting and, to get straight to the point the answer to the question ‘can I adopt if I am single?’ is a resounding yes you can!
- Throughout the month of April, we are highlighting Fostering for Adoption (or FfA) and talking about this particular route to adoption. In our latest blog post we talk about just what Fostering for Adoption is, how you can find out more about Fostering for Adoption and how you can start your adoption journey by adopting through this particular route to adoption.
- In this blog we are starting right at the beginning, aiming to help guide you with how to start your adoption journey.
- The LGBT+ Adoption and Fostering Week is back for its tenth year. Led by New Family Social the campaign looks to encourage more LGBT+ people to consider both adoption and fostering as routes to parenting. Adoption Now have been proud to have supported this year’s campaign and so, as a special episode we felt a great way to finish the weeks celebration would be to speak to Sam who, along with his partner Tom adopted their amazing little boy. In this episode we find out about their adoption journey, and amongst other things, how, as part of the LGBT+ community, they found the adoption process.
- Adoption Now are once again proud to be supporting New Family Social’s Adoption & Fostering Week 2022!
- On Saturday (26th February) children from across the North-West, who are waiting to be adopted, and prospective adopters came together for a day of fun and finding families. 35 children and 46 sets of adopters were invited to the Disney-themed fun day and given the chance to dress up and enjoy activities such as crafts, soft play, racing cars, and even alpaca walking.
